Pollybeak Deformity – Rhinoplasty – Houston

Published on November 8, 2013

Pollybeak DeformityThe nose is a complicated part of the body with many sensitive parts. A rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that corrects or enhances the appearance and functionality of the nose. Rhinoplasty, also called a nose job, is used to correct a wide range of issues, such as a pollybeak deformity.

A pollybeak deformity is rarely a result of a congenital deformity; rather, it is often caused by prior rhinoplasty surgery. Pollybeak deformity appears as an additional prominence or contour immediately above the tip of the nose. Many patients who underwent rhinoplasty for a dorsal hump experience this deformity because the prior surgeon did not remove the necessary amount of cartilage.

Consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Fred Bressler to see if you are dealing with a pollybeak deformity.
